Global Spring: The Little Worlds We Hold

The Little Worlds We Hold is Kärt Tambet’s and Vija Moore’s way of describing the sentiment of living through a community project. These little worlds do not exist as physical places or objects and therfore, they can never be lost or taken. We build, own and hold our little worlds because that is the way the world we share becomes bigger.
This master’s degree concert is a collection of reflections about the experiences both Vija and Kärt had, encountering the community at Sofianlehto Multisensory Activity Center. The eight weeks of music interaction inspired an expanded perspective on their artistic expression and values. Making music with this community created a little world that now will continue to exist as long as we hold it.

Global Spring
Global Spring is an annual festival featuring students, teachers, alumni and special guests representing Sibelius Academy’s Global music programme. The global music studies embraces pluralistic, fluid approaches to sound, culture and identity, creating new hybrid musical spaces through intercultural dialogue and collaboration. This year’s festival has the special theme of percussion and rhythm. Expect a feast of inspiring concerts, workshops, and discussions that highlight diverse approaches to working with rhythm through the hands of performers from around the world, celebrating the diversity of our planet.
