Global Spring: Juho Tuomainen
An improvised solo ambient guitar performance
Juho Tuomainen is an ambient guitarist who creates improvised atmospheres that invite a calm and contemplative state of mind. Using only an electric guitar, few pedals and a looper, he likes to build impressionistic soundscapes that reflect his feelings on the impermanence of the human condition, as well as his affection towards the delicate nature of Japanese aesthetics. Through his music, Juho wants to bring us back to our innermost questions and remind us that we are here only for a short while.
This concert is an improvised solo ambient guitar performance, where all music is crafted in a real-time process. The audience is encouraged to find their own meaning and the way of listening to the music. Sleeping and other forms of relaxation are also encouraged.

Global Spring
Global Spring is an annual festival featuring students, teachers, alumni and special guests representing Sibelius Academy’s Global music programme. The global music studies embraces pluralistic, fluid approaches to sound, culture and identity, creating new hybrid musical spaces through intercultural dialogue and collaboration. This year’s festival has the special theme of percussion and rhythm. Expect a feast of inspiring concerts, workshops, and discussions that highlight diverse approaches to working with rhythm through the hands of performers from around the world, celebrating the diversity of our planet.
