Global Spring: Ana Lazar – Echoes of Elsewhere
Ana Lazar’s compositions are influenced by Balkan traditions, Middle Eastern sounds, Western classical music, and beyond
Music has always been Ana Lazar’s way of making sense of the world—a means of expressing emotions that words often cannot. Echoes of Elsewhere is a tribute to the cultures, people, and landscapes that have shaped her on her journey as a musician. Her compositions are influenced by Balkan traditions, Middle Eastern sounds, Western classical music, and beyond. However, rather than recreating these traditions, Ana seeks to express how she has experienced them.
She is passionate about traveling, exploring different musical traditions, and learning from the people she meets along the way. Their lifestyles, food, and landscapes inspire her just as much as their music. The “echoes” in her work are the lasting impressions of these encounters—memories and sounds that stay with her, shaping who she is. She is especially drawn to the colors and textures of sound, the way an instrument resonates, or how subtle nuances create a language beyond words.
This concert is a collection of stories told through music, created alongside dear friends and fellow musicians. Each of them brings their own voice, adding new layers to the sound. She is always exploring, always learning, and always listening.
