The church musicians’ choir at the Sibelius Academy of Uniarts Helsinki is a training choir for choral conducting students. Students from a variety of departments, such as church music, music education, composition and music theory, different instruments and the Open University, sing in the choir and conduct it. The choir consists of students who are completing their first, second or third year studies in choral conducting under Jani Sivén, lecturer of choral conducting, and Anna Nora, teacher of choral conducting, as well as visiting lecturers and teachers. The repertoire consists of choir music from different centuries practised in the choral conducting studies.
During the autumn season, the choir performs at the Gaudete concerts in November and at the Christmas matinees in the Helsinki Music Centre. During the spring season, the choir performs at concerts together with students from the department of church music in Kuopio.
