Content and objectives
Welcome to dance, movement and bodily experiences!
The Degree Programme in Dance is a three-year (180 ECTS) education leading to a bachelor’s degree in dance and an artistic basic education in dance. The degree programme provides you with the capacity to work in a variety of professional tasks in the field of dance and to continue to master’s degree studies in dance. Our aim is to educate dance artists whose professional skills are based on an understanding of dance as an art, its links to society and diverse ways of operating in the world.
Studies in dance focus on movement, performer’s practices, and use of voice. Artistic projects and their processes also form a large part of the studies. In artistic projects, you can practice operating as a dance artist from different positions. The courses, which focus on independent work, give you space for finding, exploring, and developing your own artistic voice.
You can engage in artistic cooperation with students from different degree programmes on several courses. This makes it possible to study dance from multiple perspectives in relation to different fields of art and between them.
Art theories are examined in relation to artistic practices and processes. The so-called contextual studies include courses in art and dance history, art philosophy and performance theory.
Student exchange
The study environment of the Degree Programme in Dance is international. You can study together with exchange students and receive teaching from international teachers. You can also include an internationalisation module in your studies. This may, for example, involve a student exchange at an international Erasmus partner school.
Close contacts with working life
Studies in the Degree Programme in Dance prepare you to work in the diverse and changing operating environments of dance. Often, the mentors follow the student’s performances and demos and act as a discussion partner in their growth as an artist.
