The internationally esteemed Sibelius Academy has been educating world-class artists and versatile music professionals since 1882. At the heart of our work lies an uncompromising passion for excellence and a deep love for music. Year after year, we are ranked among the top institutions in our field.
We offer high-level education in classical music, jazz, folk music, global music and church music. Moreover, our curriculum covers music technology, music education, composition and music theory as well as arts management, entrepreneurship and music business.
Our students have the space to grow into unique professionals in an environment that values diversity and inclusivity, offering programmes ranging from youth education to doctoral studies.
Our international community includes approximately 1,400 students and 500 teachers from Finland and around the world. Groundbreaking research and the development of music practices are closely intertwined at our academy.

At the Sibelius Academy, you can complete a bachelor’s and master’s of music degree, a licentiate degree and a doctoral degree. We also provide youth and adult education.

The top subject-specific rankings for the University of the Arts Helsinki include Sibelius Academy’s 12th place in the field of music and 13th place in performing arts. Additionally, the university ranked among the top 200 in the field of art and design.
The Junior Academy is a platform for future professionals of music. You can apply to study classical, jazz, folk or Global Music.
When future musicians are educated in the same building as the best experts in the orchestra world, a unique educational concept is created.
We train instrument and voice teachers, who gain valuable experience by practising their pedagogical skills with their practice pupils.
The orchestra has the honour of performing at the festival as the fourth Finnish symphony orchestra in its history.
Brian Zeger, Director of Vocal Arts at Juilliard School, and Markus Lehtinen, Professor of Opera at Uniarts Helsinki’s Sibelius Academy bring together young vocalists and pianists from both institutions to perform a repertoire of classical Nordic and contemporary American pieces in Helsinki and New York City.
The Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation has granted one million euros to the Sibelius Academy of Uniarts Helsinki, for a project promoting diversity in music education through international cooperation, and more broadly, cultural equity in society.
The programme complements our regular bachelor’s and master’s studies by inviting artists representing the highest level of their fields.

We are responsible for doctoral education within the Faculty of Classical Music of the Sibelius Academy.
We are responsible for doctoral education and research in the Faculty of Music Education, Jazz and Folk Music at the Sibelius Academy.
At our university, research and music practices engage in close interaction. Our artistic research renews and expands the field of music research and introduces new methods and research subjects into our research activities.
We publish literature, online materials, journals, and recordings related to our field of teaching and research.
Artistic activities culminate in public concerts, most of which are held at the Helsinki Music Centre.
