Performance Pedagogy – Politics of Art Pedagogy
The aim of the research is to consider how performance art is taught and what social dimensions performance art teachers see in their work.
Introduction
In her research on Performance Pedagogy – Politics of Art Pedagogy, Pilvi Porkola explores the concept of performance, the tradition of performance art in pedagogy, as well as the politics of art pedagogy.
The aim of the research is to consider how performance art is taught and what social dimensions performance art teachers see in their work. The hypothesis of the study is that the politics of performance art and its tradition influence the teachers politically in one way or another. Additionally, she is interested in how prevailing political circumstances and ideas affect teaching situations.
The research includes an ethnographic study of art teachers, practice-based workshops, and artistic work. The artistic intervention SOFA – Conversations on Utopias (Reality Research Center) will take place around Helsinki in May 2024. Find more from Reality Research Center’s webpage
