Kreativ personcentrerad vårdkonst project

Introduction

Kreativ personcentrerad vårdkonst is a training and development project in Swedish Finland, which is carried out in collaboration between Åbo Akademi University (Unit for Health Sciences and the Center for Lifelong Learning), Uniarts Helsinki and practical nursing and nursing educations in Swedish Finland (Axxell, Yrkesakademin Vocational College of Ostrobothnia, Prakticum, Novia University of applied Sciences, Arcada University of applied Sciences).

The project intends to develop, implement and evaluate a creative, person-centered approach as well as enhance cultural and artistic practices in vocational education and geriatric care in order to change the care culture in Swedish Finland in the long term.

The project consists of three subprojects with the aims to

a) Train care teachers in Finnish-Swedish vocational education to integrate a creative person-centered approach and enhance cultural and artistic practices in teaching geriatric care

b) Implement the new working methods in geriatric care by developing the skills and competence of practical nursing and nursing students in the creative person-centered approach and cultural and artistic practices by developing course plans for both the theoretical and practical studies in geriatric care

c) Evaluate the effect of the activities at different levels: with the trained care teachers, practical nursing and nursing students and with supervising staff in geriatric care practices, where the evaluation includes an analysis of factors in the working environment that enable or prevent the establishment of cultural and artistic practices and processes.
