Riku Saastamoinen

University lecturer Riku Saastamoinen (DA) has worked at the Theater Academy since 2007 and has been leading the MA program in Theater Pedagogy since 2011. His artistic research deals with the relationship between performance and education and lays the foundation for performance-based pedagogy. Performance-based pedagogy expands from drama and theatre and stems from an open relationship with the performance, group-agency and exploratory learning. Besides academic work he also works as a theatre director. He has directed several long-lasting performance series including: Idiot (e.g. Galerie Anhava, Teatteri Jurkka 2012-2019) Anonymous Dialogues (Teak / Stoa / Gloria 2014-2019) and Philosophy of Poverty -trilogy (e.g. Ateneum 1996-2006).
