Introduction
Mikko Seppänen (MMus) is a lecturer in Music Education at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. He teaches music education technology basics as well as classroom ensemble work and pedagogy. In the academic year 2024-25, Mikko focuses on his doctoral studies and teaching music education technology.
Mikko is doing his doctoral studies at the MuTri Doctoral School. In his applied, scientific doctoral research, he aims to find out what meanings music education students give to a music technological, do-it-yourself-oriented building project. The point of view is the development of music teacher education; Mikko hopes that the project will bring new perspectives to the identified pedagogical challenges of utilizing music education technology, such as strong consumer and end-user perspective, ever-evolving technology, obsolescence of learned skills and limited teaching resources.
Mikko is involved in the joint IN.TUNE alliance work of eight European Art Universities.
