Lauri Kilpiö

I am a composer, lecturer in composition and a doctoral student of composition at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts, aiming at completing my doctoral degree in 2025. My profile as a composer has been versatile. My oeuvre includes works from solo pieces to orchestral compositions, chamber operas and pedagogical music. The stylistic range of my works has also been wide, including melodic-harmonic atonal music, textural music, concrete instrumental music as well as tonal contemporary music. I am teaching composition, composition in historical styles as well as analysis of contemporary music at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts. The topic of my doctoral degree at the Sibelius Academy is motivicity in contemporary music context. I am currently writing the thesis of my degree, focusing on comparing two compositions of my own with two classic works by Helmut Lachenmann and Kazimierz Serocki.
