Introduction

My artistic doctoral project focuses on Finnish women composers from the 19th century onwards, from a pianist's perspective. The project consists of four concerts and two articles. In the concerts I investigate how women have used different musical forms. In the articles I analyze Carita Holmström's songs and Laura Netzel's relationship to sonata form using dialogic music analysis.
