Heidi Partti (DMus) is a Professor of Music Education at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. She also holds the position of Associate Professor at the University of Jyväskylä. Driven by a deep passion for promoting a shared understanding of our constantly evolving world, particularly through music education, Heidi directs her research towards addressing and responding to the global transformations and difficulties that exist within the music education and industry. Her doctoral dissertation, completed in 2012, focused on the formation of identities and the negotiations of meaning within digital learning communities. Heidi's approach to music education encompasses a strong interdisciplinary perspective. Her research primarily centers around issues of equality, eco-social sustainability, and ethics in a post-digital society. In her inaugural professorial lecture, Heidi delved into the prerequisites that music education must fulfill in order to cultivate hope and a sense of responsibility, thereby enabling a good future for all. At the University of the Arts Helsinki, Heidi teaches research ethics and provides guidance for master's theses and doctoral dissertations. She is a certified VIRT2UE Research Integrity and Ethics Trainer, with a particular interest in advancing ethical and sustainable research practices within the field of music education. She chairs the University of the Arts' Research Ethics Committee, and also serves as the institution's Research Integrity Adviser. Heidi actively collaborates within international networks and projects, and frequently delivers lectures beyond the realm of academia.
