Young artists of Summer: Taavi Orro

Living in the shadow of immense global challenges, there is a feeling of always being at the edge of two polarities — on the brink of catastrophe while also surrounded by excess. In this program we humbly present an offering, a prayer for warm life, that floats between these distant points — day, life, joy; night, death, pain. The composers on this program all exist in this middle space, using music as a means of making sense of the overwhelming world around us, often choosing a reconciliation between nature and culture as a possible point of healing.
