Studia Generalia 2022: Samir Bhowmik
Samir Bhowmik’s lecture “Performing Art in the Extraction Zone”
Samir Bhowmik’s talk examines the entanglements of extractivism, human bodies and infrastructure in contemporary culture.
By tracing the trajectories of colonialism, industrial revolution, and the current digital revolution, it explores the linkages of techno-spatio-material apparatuses and imaginations to the current climate crisis. How could multi-disciplinary perspectives and speculative artistic practices offer ways to shape planetary intelligence and further environmental justice?
The lecture will be held in English.
Place: Sörnäinen campus, KO-525
