Soiva kieli – The Far Shore

This concert, taking its title from a song by Kamala Sankaram, takes a look at the intersection of Indian and Western poetry and music.

20th and 21st century Western composers are heard setting Indian poetry, and diaspora Indian composers show how Hindustani and Western classical musical languages can be brought together into the world of song, fusing cultures and perspectives through sound and text.
