Reacclimating the Stage (Skenomorphoses)
will be presented for public examination on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 12 o’clock at the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy (Studio 3/Auditorium 1, Haapaniemenkatu 6, Helsinki, Finland). The occasion is in English.
Roumagnac’s public examination takes place in the Theatre Academy’s Studio 3 in the installation The Final Stage. The installation consists of the restaging of the online doctoral publication, supplemented by the reactivation of several artworks generated in the framework of the doctoral artistic research project (2015-2020). The installation opening is on Tuesday, September 1, at 6 pm.
Opponents are PhD, Professor Carl Lavery (University of Glasgow) and PhD, Professor Ellen Johanne Røed (University of the Arts Stockholm). Custos of the examination is Professor in Artistic Research Tuija Kokkonen.
The public examination will be streamed into the Auditorium 1 at the Theatre Academy, and it can also be followed on the Uniarts channel online.
Due to the coronavirus situation, the number of people at a time in the premises of the Theatre Academy is limited. In Auditorium 1 there will be space for max. 54 ppl. Between every seat there will always be an empty one. Hand disinfectant and face masks will be provided at the entrance of the Auditorium and their use is recommended. Feel free to bring your own too.

Vincent Roumagnac is a French-Basque theatre artist and researcher based in Finland and France who has presented his works broadly in different domestic and international platforms. During 2015-2020, Roumagnac has conducted his doctoral artistic research project Reacclimating the Stage (Skenomorphoses) at the Performing Arts Research Centre in the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy. His work materializes through multiple forms such as installations, performances, and videoscenic acts. He is interested in the way the notion and the practice of the “stage” evolve through contemporary climate-morphing and techno-ecological conditioning.
Roumagnac’s doctoral artistic research project received the generous support of Kone Foundation and CIMO Fellowships programme.
