Professor of Music Technology Jan Schacher’s Inaugural Lecture and Performance
From the 29th of November Covid-19 passport is required at Music Hall concerts after 5 p.m. We will announce the possible introduction of a corona pass for R Building concerts in week 48. If you do not have a Covid-19 pass and have purchased a ticket for a concert after 5pm at the Music Hall, you have the right to return your ticket. Ticketmaster is in touch with customers.
In his inaugural presentation, Professor Jan Schacher will expose his approaches to art and research both through a more standard lecture and an exploratory performance with various sounds, spaces, and texts.
As a music performer, media artist and artist-researcher, Jan Schacher’s focus lies on the development and strengthening of an artist’s position as an articulate, visionary and widely connecting participant in today’s world.
As a teacher, his attitude is that of fostering singularity and pushing to exceed boundaries. In that regard, development of formats and methods are an equal part of exploration as is building communication and connection skills.
The inaugural presentation evening will also provide an opportunity to meet and chat with the newly appointed professor in person and learn more about his perspective on the Sibelius Academy, Uniarts Helsinki and the City of Helsinki in general.
The evening is embedded within the Music and Technology Department’s Spatial Audio Week, which comprises workshops, roundtable discussions, another listening concert, and a dedicated listening space.
