Outi Nyytäjä Lecture

Riikka Ala-Harja and Juha-Pekka Hotinen will conduct a dialogue in and on Outi’s spirit, and Outi herself will join us from another reality

A random selection of topics: speech and sound, among other things about the museum, remembering, old age, tendency to fall, the dramaturg’s roles, product design and commissioned works, Alibi and the outside of art, food and the meeting as an art form, falseness and perspective. Perhaps, or maybe something else altogether – the topic will be decided by drawing lots.

This series of lectures launched in 2018 as the Degree Programme in Dramaturgy celebrated its 50th anniversary derives its name from Outi Nyytäjä (1935–2017), the powerhouse of Finnish dramaturgy.

Every two years, we invite influential persons in the field of dramaturgy from Finland or abroad to lecture about a topic of their choice. The purpose of the lecture series is to maintain and advance dramaturgical discussion and to take a look at the history of dramaturgy and dramaturgical ways of working and thinking from multiple perspectives.

The idea is to also imagine the future of dramaturgy, or different dramaturgies. In the spirit of Outi Nyytäjä, no topic is excluded as a default, and there is also space for polemic and acerbic expressions of opinions.

Lecture room: Theatre Academy, Auditorium 1

Admission to the lecture is free.

Please note: the event is in Finnish. If you are in need of English interpretation, please take a mobile device equipped with Zoom and headphones with you.
