Online event: How To Do Things With Performance Grande Finale
The concluding event of the artistic research project takes the form of an exhibition.
Now, when the four-year Academy of Finland funded project How To Do Things With Performance (HTDTWP) is completed, we want to share our experiences with an interested public in the form of an exhibition, displaying and screening some of the things done, and to have some conversations about our experiences and future plans in order to enable an active engagement with the material.
We have also invited our advisory board and some artists working with various forms of performance to join us for this two-day event. Welcome!
Visiting artists
Jamie MacDonald
Eero Yli-Vakkuri
Tellervo Kalleinen
Anna Cadia and H m Ouramo
The registration is open until 30 April 2021. The event platform is Zoom.
The Academy of Finland funded research project (2016-2021) How To Do Things With Performance at the Performing Arts Research Centre of University of the Arts Helsinki Theatre Academy, brought together four views on performance as research and artistic research in performance. By asking what can be done with performance, the project has during its four years contribute to recent discussions in artistic research, in performance philosophy, and performative and performance writing as well as to the emergent discussion of performance studies and performance as research in Finland.
The project asked what can be done with performance – what actualizes when a performance takes place, when it is documented, and when it is written about. Through these epistemological questions, we addressed the ontology of performance: in what ways can we understand ‘performance’ today, as a new materiality, as presence, and in the international, multilingual context where words, documents, and practices connote differently but are shared in online environments.
Programme (Helsinki-Time UTC+2).
