Overture: NYKY Ensemble
The NYKY Ensemble, Sibelius Academy’s contemporary music ensemble, will perform Andrew Norman’s string trio ‘The Companion Guide to Rome’ as a prelude to the Helsinki Philharmonic concert. This performance celebrates Andrew Norman’s visit to the Academy as a visiting composition teacher.
The string trio, inspired by nine Roman churches, evolves from musical reflections on architecture and art into character sketches of imagined companions, representing the composer’s experience in the Eternal City.
