Vocalist and composer Vilma Jää has reflected in her work on the means by which folk traditions can be brought to the ears of large audiences. Various folk styles and forms are common features of popular music. Her oeuvre brings together tradition and dominant cultures.
In the lecture we will also hear about the collaboration with Kaija Saariaho in the opera Innocence, which will premiere at the Finnish National Opera on October 21, 2022.
