Top Canadian violinist Kerson Leong performs Eugène Ysaÿe’s (1858–1931) “Six Sonatas for Solo Violin Op. 27 (1923). Each sonata in the series is dedicated to one of Ysaÿe’s contemporary violinists. Through these figures, the piece presents a versatile playing technique and musical expression developed at the beginning of the 20th century. Along with the concert, Leong will hold a master class for Sibelius Academy violin students.
