Propositions for Unfinished Thinking: The Research Score as a Medium of Artistic Research
will be presented for public examination on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 12 o’clock at the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy (Auditorium 1, Haapaniemenkatu 6, Helsinki, Finland). The language of the examination is English. The examination will take place online, and it can be followed in Auditorium 1.
Opponents are Dr. Jaana Parviainen (Tampere university) and Dr. Benjamin Spatz (University of Huddersfield). Custos of the examination is Professor in Artistic Research Leena Rouhiainen.
Due to the coronavirus situation, the number of people at a time in the premises of the Theatre Academy is limited.
The examination can also be followed live on the Uniarts Helsinki YouTube channel.
Due to the coronavirus situation, the number of people at a time in the premises of the Theatre Academy is limited. In Auditorium 1 there will be space for max. 54 ppl. Between every seat there will always be an empty one. Hand disinfectant and face masks will be provided at the entrance of the Auditorium and their use is recommended. Feel free to bring your own too.

Joa Hug is an artist-researcher and performer based in Berlin. During his doctorate at the Performing Arts Research Centre (2011-2020) in the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy he presented his doctoral research at various events in Finland and abroad. His investigation is crafted around Body Weather performance training and explores the relations between physical and conceptual modes of reflection.
Hug’s doctoral artistic research has been generously supported by the Ella and Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation, as well as by the Theatre Academy (Uniarts Helsinki). The public examination of his doctoral research is supported by the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT).
