Henrik Järvi – Palmgren, Albéniz, Bartók

Henrik Järvi’s third postgraduate concert focuses on the piano music applications of “the northern Chopin”, Selim Palmgren (1878-1951).

The middle season of Palmgren’s composer production (1910s) was a time of intensive creation. It includes the opera Daniel Hjort and the piano concertos Virta and Metamorfoosit, which have also been popular internationally. At the same time, Palmgren’s solo piano production has plenty of folk dance and song-based compositions. In Henrik Järvi’s piano recital, we hear Palmgren, Albeniz, Bartók and York Bowen.
