Global Fest: Repkat Parhat
Repkat Parhat’s concert: Miras
Bringing together the sound of the far east, live electronics, and audio-visual elements, this project reflects on the complex journey of discovering my cultural heritage from a very complicated position. This process has had a direct effect on the creation and performance of my music. In the artistic outcome of this project, you will hear my way of responding to all kinds of injustices and situations that I have encountered in my life because of who I am.
Throughout this journey, the healing power of music has helped me to express my emotions, process past and present trauma, and save me from the darkness.
*Miras is a Uyghur word that means ‘heritage’. It is also found in many other Turkic languages.
