Formosa Whispering
Taiwanese contemporary music for saxophones
The project ”Formosa Whispering” started since the year of 2019 by Taiwanese saxophonist Chun-Hao KU.
The idea is to make a long term project to encourage and develop original
saxophones works by Taiwanese composes. Meanwhile, the music language and its authentic follows different cultures and languages, therefore the project is also trying to do discovery new saxophone languages via the collaborations or creativities between performers and composers.
In 2024, Formosa Whispering has two principal features: to present the new pieces from Taiwanese composers & In researching of how the languages & cultures make different authentic of music interpreted.
The presented program in this year includes pieces by composers Chia-Lin PAN, Cheng-Wei LEE, Chihchun Chi-sun LEE and Chi-Yen HUANG. Three of these pieces are showing the different Chinese/Taiwanese cultures and the techniques of composition as well.
The presented program follows the conference with the title « The Aesthetic of Taiwan Saxophone Repertoire by its Language, Prosody and Culture.
