Finnish Flute Festival
The event has an international flavour featuring numerous renowned flautists from around Europe. The programme includes a versatile offering of masterclasses, workshops and concerts
About the festival
Finnish talent is represented by the Sibelius Academy’s flute lecturers, who will be giving masterclasses to students from vocational institutions and advanced students from music schools. An informal review session will be available for young flute players. The panels consist of renowned Finnish flute lecturers and students.
Our main sponsor, Adams Flute Center, has a presence at the festival throughout the weekend, and participants will be able to explore different flute-makers’ instruments.
A large group of front-ranking flautists are arriving to teach and play concerts: Paul Edmund-Davies, Anna Garzuly-Wahlgren, Gudrun Hinze, Olga Ivusheikova, Gareth McLearnon, Ulla Miilmann, Paolo Taballione and Matthias Ziegler. The festival will also feature principal flautists of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra Yuki Koyama and Niamh McKenna, as well as Sibelius Academy flute teachers Petri Alanko, Hanna Juutilainen, Hanna Kinnunen and Elina Raijas. Lectures and workshops will present important issues for flautists and musicians, such as ergonomics and instrument maintenance.
Entrance is free to all concerts and the review for young flautists. The rest of the programme is accessible with a day or weekend pass. Courses and workshops will be available for professionals, vocational students, young flautists and flute enthusiasts.
