Miisa Mäkeläinen (b.1992) is a Helsinki-based painter, who cherishes chance, playfulness and gentle contradictions in her work. Mäkeläinen paints a world where you can insouciantly reach out and take a stranger’s hand, knowing a new hand always grows in place of an old one.
Mäkeläinen’s works are small, medium and large material paintings that deal with various themes related to incompleteness, embodiment and being seen.
