Lotta Pasila

About the artist

In the paintings of Lotta Pasila (b. 1988, Turku) slow layers of oil paint glide across linen canvas. The Princess of the Night blooms in darkness, exuding an intoxicating, tropical fragrance. In Pasila’s work, the flower becomes an attempt to remain neutral in a world where truth is shaped by perspective, while also drawing on the symbolism of vanitas paintings, reminding us of the fleeting beauty of existence and the impermanence of all things.
