Vision for performing arts education is now finalised
The vision project, which was launched at the initiative of Uniarts Helsinki, involved the work of nearly 900 operators in the field of performing arts over a period of one and a half years. The project resulted in a vision document spanning until the year 2030, and it is now available for the public.
The vision for performing arts education for 2030 is now finalised, and it can be read in Uniarts Helsinki’s open-access repository called Taju. The vision outlines the future of education in the field of performing arts, which refers to theatre, dance, performance art and circus.
The vision document is the output of the project for establishing a vision for performing arts education for 2030. The vision describes the education system for performing arts and presents possible development paths and measures for fixing the structural problems in the education system for performing arts by 2030.
The project was carried out over a period of one and a half years between June 2021 and December 2022 at the initiative and with funding of Uniarts Helsinki, and it involved nearly 900 operators in the field. The participants represented various sectors and levels of education and various disciplines in performing arts.
The project for compiling a vision for performing arts education was part of larger project work carried out by Uniarts Helsinki. The vision for music education was completed in December 2020, while the vision for fine arts education was completed in November 2022.
“All three visions offer an excellent basis for making decisions on cultural and education policies, both on a regional and national level. We at Uniarts Helsinki are very happy that we’ve had the chance to coordinate this work and for the first time, are now able to join the public discussion as a united front of professionals with the same, strong message,” says Rector of Uniarts Helsinki Kaarlo Hildén.
The vision project gave an impetus for cooperation in the educational sector of performing arts, and the goal is to continue this cooperation in the form of research and development projects, for example. More detailed information on the follow-up measures for the vision project will be announced in the 2023 spring term.
