Uniarts Helsinki’s new Taide Talks podcast invites students to talk about their art-making
The podcast celebrates our tenth anniversary by giving a voice to ten Uniarts Helsinki students. The university’s special year will culminate on 22 September with the Uniarts Fest arts festival.
On Monday, 28 August, Uniarts Helsinki will launch its Taide Talks podcast, where students get to share their views on artistic practices and on their personal role as artists in today’s society and in the Finnish arts sector. The podcast features discussions on art-making in the fields of music, fine arts and dance. New episodes are released on Spotify on Mondays.
The driving force behind the podcast was arts management student Lora Milutinovic, who will also host the episodes.
“I wanted to create a platform that would connect the students of all three academies and give them a voice and a safe space to reflect on and talk about their own artistic practice. At the same time, also listeners from outside of the university community get to deepen their understanding of the artistic work that is studied at Uniarts Helsinki,” Lora sums up.
The recordings and soundscapes of the podcast have been produced in cooperation with the Degree Programme in Music Technology. Student Mikael Hakkarainen is responsible for the production and sounds of the podcast.
The podcast is part of Uniarts Helsinki’s 10th anniversary celebrations. The university’s special year will culminate on 22 September with the Uniarts Fest arts festival, starting at 14:00 on the Sörnäinen campus. The festival is kicked off by celebrating the opening of the university’s academic year and its 10th anniversary, and after these festivities, the same location will serve as the venue for Uniarts Fest. Besides enjoying art and performances, the public also will also have the chance to join guided tours in the university facilities.
