Uniarts Helsinki concluded its change negotiations

The negotiations helped reduce the savings that will concern personnel. At the annual level, the university is aiming at savings of 2.5 million euros by the end of 2028.

Uniarts Helsinki initiated change negotiations concerning the entire personnel on 11 March 2024. At the annual level, the university is aiming at savings of 2.5 million euros by the end of 2028.

The change negotiations were concluded on 5 December 2024. According to the original estimate, half of the savings would concern academic staff and the other half would concern other specialist and support service personnel.

The negotiations helped reduce the savings that will concern personnel: 16 per cent of the savings can be made by cutting down other expenses. The remaining 84% of the savings will be achieved through the natural reduction of workforce, which will require changes in e.g. the university’s current organisation structure, practices and job descriptions.

Hourly-paid teachers whose employment relationships are valid until further notice and who have not taught at all during the past three academic years will be dismissed. According to the university’s estimate, there are no more than 20 of these persons.

The changes will be carried out by 31 May 2025.
