The XII International Sibelius Violin Competition starts on 19 May 2022
The XII International Sibelius Violin Competition starts on 19 May with a performance by Karen Su (US).
The order of the first rounds of the XII International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition was drawn today at the opening ceremony of the competition in the concert hall of the Sibelius Academy’s R-Hall on the Uniarts Helsinki Töölö Campus. Following the tradition, the order was drawn by the youngest participant, who is this time Yesong Sophie Lee (US).

Jevgēnijs Čepoveckis (LV), Molin Han (CN) and Sueye Park (KR) have cancelled their participation in the competition. The results of the first rounds and the order of the second rounds will be announced at the end of the first rounds on Saturday, May 21.
The competition can also be followed live on Yle’s channels. Live webcasts of the first and second rounds, as well as the final round and award ceremony, will be available worldwide at Yle Areena. The first and second rounds will be broadcasted by Yle Radio 1. The bilingual (Finnish and Swedish) final round broadcasts will be presented by Yle Radio 1 and on TV by Yle Teema Fem.
The first and second rounds will be held May 19–21 and May 23–25 in Sibelius Academy’s R building’s concert hall, located at Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 9. The finals, culminating in the award ceremony, are held on May 27–29 in Helsinki Music Centre’s concert hall, located at Mannerheimintie 13 A.
