Previous rector of Uniarts Helsinki Jari Perkiömäki receives the Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland medal
The President of Finland has awarded previous rector of Uniarts Helsinki Jari Perkiömäki the Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland medal on 6 December 2020.
The medal is a recognition of notable personal merits in pursuing the interests of the university and arts community.
“Jari Perkiömäki has a wide understanding of the meaning of art, and he has done commendable work in expanding the university’s mission in the entire society. During Perkiömäki’s term, Uniarts Helsinki has developed into a nationally and internationally esteemed institution,” says chair of the Uniarts Helsinki Board Heikki Lehtonen. He says that the awarding of the medal to Perkiömäki, whose rector term ended in November, is also a token of appreciation for the whole community.
The President of Finland awarded decorations for seven other merited members of the Uniarts Helsinki community. The medals will be presented to their recipients in a ceremony in the beginning of 2021.
