New Master’s students of the Academy of Fine Arts
The Master’s admission for the Academy of Fine Arts was conducted as a separate admission in 2020. The application period was from the 12th of August to the 28th of August 2020. The applications were submitted electronically via the Studyinfo system.
179 applications were submitted to the degree programme in fine arts, of which 171 applicants were deemed eligible or conditionally eligible to apply based on their language skills and the required advance assignments. Based on the evaluation of the compulsory appendices and portfolios, 53 applicants were invited to the interviews and 52 of them attended to the interview.
41 applications were submitted to the Praxis – Master’s programme in Exhibition Studies, of which 37 applicants were deemed as eligible or conditionally eligible to apply based on their language skills and the required advance assignments. Based on the evaluation of the compulsory appendices, 13 applicants were invited to the interviews and 11 of them attended to the interview.

The Academy of Fine Arts will send an email on 12 November 2020 to those who are accepted as students and those on the reserve list. Some e-mail clients may treat our messages as spam; please check your e-mail spam folder as well. The admitted applicants will receive more information about the admission procedure, on accepting the study place, and on how to enrol for the academic year by. Applicants can also inquire the results via e-mail (kuva.admissions@uniarts.fi).
New students are to accept their study places by 3.00 pm Finnish time on 26 November 2020.
Paper format portfolios can be collected from the attendees in the info of the Academy on 7 December 2020 at the earliest and on 12 January 2021 at the latest (visiting address Elimäenkatu 25 A, Helsinki). Uncollected portfolios or portfolios without sufficient reply postage will be destroyed.
Members of the admission jury will give feedback on the phone to those applicants who were interviewed, but were not admitted, at specific times if requested. Applicants receive more detailed information on how to request feedback via e-mail. Feedback cannot be given at another time.
Appeals
Applicants can apply for rectification of the admission decision from Uniarts Helsinki under the Universities Act (558/2009), section 82. The purpose of a written request for rectification is to give the applicant the possibility to appeal and request for rectification if there is a reason to believe that there has been an error in the decision-making process. The rectification procedure is not intended as a means for receiving feedback or asking for further information about the admissions process.
