Arts Management field needs to understand the structures, criteria and decision-making processes of the creative ecosystems
A new publication offers a rethought view on the current Arts Management topics
In the future, the Arts Management needs to better understand the structures and mechanisms, criteria and decision-making processes of the creative ecosystems to find effective ways to make the industry ecologically, socially, culturally and economically sustainable.
The Art of Re-Thinking: New Era for Arts Management is a publication celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Arts Management department at the Sibelius Academy, Uniarts Helsinki. It offers 14 professional articles discussing the transformation of the Arts Management field, its relations to society, diversity and sustainability and topics related to creative work, entrepreneurship, marketing and cultural management.
The writers represent the international field of Arts Management research and education as well as the alumni, current staff and other professionals related to the Arts Management department at the Sibelius Academy and Uniarts Helsinki
The publication is one of the tangible outcomes of the Arts Management department’s re-thinking processes in the new era of Arts Management. The objective was to celebrate the versatility of Arts Management and people working in it. The publication is edited by Violeta Simjanovska, Department head of the Arts Management and Toni-Matti Karjalainen, professor of Arts Management, Society and Creative Entrepreneurship at the University of the Arts Helsinki. The book shows how versatile and impactful the field of Arts Management is on the practices as well as on research and educational views in arts and culture.
“We are going through a big a transformation at the moment. Hopefully our publication ignites lots of new ideas and questions in your head. We want, that the reader will re-think the management practices, strategies, policies, behaviour, values and other aspects constructing the fundamentals of the new era of Arts Management”, says Karjalainen.
The Art of Re-Thinking: New Era for Arts Management will be published on 15 December 2022.
